Sayama Inariyama park


Sakura trees at Sayama Inariyama park, Sayama, Saitama prefecture

Sayama Inariyama park is located at former park of a US base, which is now JSDF Iruma airbase. The park is famous for approximately 300 sakura trees, most of them are Yoshino-Cherry type.


Therefore it is a very popular place during sakura season in late March and beginning of April. Many people come to the park and enjoy watch the trees and also having picnic.


The park is open for public and there is no admission. The park is located in front of Inariyama-koen station of Seibu Ikebukuro line which takes 40 minutes by express train from Ikebukuro station in Tokyo.

Used to live in Irumagawa while stationed at Johnson Air Base in 1969-70. Always enjoyed the cherry blossoms on the road to the base. I also liked Inariyama-Koen Station near the entrance to the base. It was a beautiful area. Fred M.
