Miyazaki station is the main station of Miyazaki city, prefectural capital of Miyazaki prefecture in Kyushu island. The station serves only one line, JR Nippo main line. However, most of the trains for JR Nichinan line and JR Miyazaki kuku(airport) line also call at this station.
The station opened in December 1915 and daily ridership in 2019 was around 10 thousand which made busiest station in Miyazaki prefecture. It is nearly triple of ridership on second busiest station, Minami-Miyazaki.
There are two entrances to the station, East and West. The city center of Miyazaki is located south-west from west entrance and therefore commercial area can be found more on the west side of the station.
