Menchi-katsu

Beef Menchi-katsu at Cafe restaurant Gasto

Menchi-katsu is a Japanese breaded and deep-fried ground meat patty, using pork, beef or mixed meat and chopped onions. It is sometimes confused with korokke; Japanese croquette.

Menchi-katsu can be found in bento or as a sandwich. Although korokke comes with bread roll, menchi-katsu and tonkatsu come with bread loaf. Menchi-katsu is usually eaten with Worcestershire sauce as same as eating korokke.

Menchi-katsu can be eaten at restaurants and diners but not so easy to find at izakaya taverns. Therefore Menchi-katsu is more main dish rather than finger food.
